Hydraulic Equipment
Hydraulic piston rods are used in various industries such as refinery, marine, gas, civil engineering and more. Piston rods are generally hydraulic cylinders that are mechanically moved by an impact force. One of the main requirements of these parts is to have smooth surfaces with a high degree of hardness making it suitable for proper sealing.
Previously, the piston rods were coated using the Chrome-Work method. The use of chromium for this purpose creates 6-Capacity Chrome as a side product, which is environmentally unsafe and a known carcinogen. This method is dangerous and industrialists have always been looking for an alternative to it.
Thermal spraying offers several types of super-alloy, cermet and ceramic coatings to replace hard chrome. The use of these types of coatings not only solves the multiple environmental problems associated with chrome, but also through the use if this coating mechanism, better conditions in terms of hardness, adhesion and integrity are attained.
A few examples for where the piston rods are used are given bellow:
- Cranes
- Dams
- Ships
- Drilling Machines
- Mining Equipment
- Refinery Pumps
